“I’m a UK Registered Dietitian with 10 years of experience, having earned a first-class honours degree from the University of Chester. Originally from Liverpool, I’ve had the opportunity to live in a few places, including London and Dubai, and these different environments have really shaped my approach to both nutrition and life in general.
When I first graduated, I started my career in the NHS, but I quickly realised that the fast-paced, ever evolving nature of the private sector was where I thrived. Over the years, I’ve specialised in areas that are close to my heart – type 2 diabetes and obesity – largely because of my own personal struggles with weight and my relationship with food.
In my younger years, I felt completely out of control, which was a hard and often isolating experience. It was during this time that I became passionate about helping people break free from the same struggles, providing the support and understanding I wish I’d had.
Nutrition wasn’t my first career choice, though – I had explored a few different paths before realising that my true calling was working with people. I realised that I wanted to connect with individuals, listen to their stories, and guide them towards healthier lives, rather than working in the corporate environments I had previously found myself in.
After a few years working in a digital health company, where I helped patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes make lasting lifestyle changes as part of a multidisciplinary team, I moved to Phlo. Phlo is an online pharmacy service providing on-demand prescription medications, including those for weight loss, by completing consultations that are assessed by prescribers.
With rapid growth in the weight loss injections market, I’m proud to be part of a team that takes patient safety incredibly seriously. There are significant concerns with safeguarding in this area, and healthcare practitioners and suppliers must consider people’s wellbeing in every step of the journey. I’ve seen first-hand how weight-loss medication can transform people’s lives when used correctly: it really is a game-changing treatment for people struggling with their weight, and as a Dietitian, it’s exciting to see people achieving their goals using a combination of weight-loss medication and behaviour change.
I’m currently focused on educating our patients about the role nutrition plays in their weight loss journeys, helping them build habits that are not only effective but also realistic and sustainable.
Whether you’ve been prescribed weight loss injections or not, my approach to nutrition is grounded in simplicity. I believe that any changes you make to your eating and exercise habits should be easy to integrate into your life, enjoyable, and – most importantly – sustainable.
If it’s not something you can continue doing, then it’s simply not going to work in the long term. Your life is unique to you, with your own pressures, responsibilities, and preferences. So, trying to force yourself into someone else’s version of ‘healthy living’ is never going to lead to lasting change. Instead, focus on what works for you, and remember that no food is off-limits, no drastic measures are needed, and most importantly – don’t give up!
When I do get some free time (as a working mum, that’s admittedly rare!), I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy long walks to clear my mind, reading (anything from The Silent Patient to Atomic Habits), and cooking without a recipe—I’m all about getting creative in the kitchen!”
