2020 has been a wild ride but, based in Grade II listed Cannizaro Park, Wimbledon’s inaugural I-CANN Health & Wellbeing Festival offers an antidote to the turmoil.
The Friends of Cannizaro Park are bringing some positive vibes back to 2020 with the launch of the I-CANN Health & Wellbeing Festival, the first event of its kind for the Grade II listed park. Wimbledon Common will welcome the world of wellness for four days only, with 18 different classes held in a safe environment that follows all social distancing guidelines.
When: Saturday 15th and 22nd August, Wednesday 19th and 26th August, 3:00-7:00pm
Where: Cannizaro Park, Westside Wimbledon Common
From Laughter Yoga and Family Yoga to Mood Enhancing Meditation and Breathwork Therapy, the prospect of catching a deep breath of fresh air in Cannizaro Park’s glorious Italian Garden is incredibly uplifting. With a programme spanning the practices of yoga, pilates, breathwork, and meditation led by specialists, this wellbeing festival in Wimbledon offers something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. Dedicated family classes will allow parents to involve their kids at no extra cost, too – family yoga classes cover one adult and child per ticket.
The Itinerary to Better Wellbeing
If you’re looking to reconnect and put some fun back into your life, join Laughter Yoga Master Trainer Lotte Mikkelsen to discover how chemical responses to laughter can impact your immune system and aid stress relief. If you want to feel less overwhelmed, more energised, and more available to yourself and others, Osteobreathe Breathwork Therapy could be for you – join Kerry Dowson in a combination of osteopathy and breathwork to bring about a sense of wellness, tension release, and general wellbeing. Kerry’s recent work has included online NHS consultations with recovering Covid-19 patients, helping retrain their dysfunctional breath.
Yoga for Runners & Walkers with Tish Dodson or Pilates for Posture with Jacqueline Pye could be the antidote to any ailments or bad habits you may have picked up, a lot of us having been stuck at our desks during lockdown. And if you feel like the current environment is draining your energy a tad too much, Mood Enhancing Manifesting Meditation will teach you some techniques to help you cut the clutter and clear a pathway to focus on your priorities.
There’s no denying that Cannizaro Park remains a jewel in Wimbledon’s crown, a haven for wildlife and an enduring attraction for its visitors. With a rich history, dating back to its years as part of the Duke of Cannizaro’s Estate, Cannizaro became a public park when Merton Borough Council adopted it in 1949. Between secluded areas, rare horticulture, and exquisite nature, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing retreat. I-CANN Health & Wellbeing Festival offers the chance to catch your breath and find your zen in the heart of Wimbledon.
Hotel du Vin Wimbledon will be open for healthy refreshments throughout, and don’t forget to bring your own mat or rug. Participants must be over 18, except for family yoga where ages of children vary. And don’t worry – in the event of stricter social distancing or lockdown measures being put into place, participants will be given the option to claim a refund.
Spaces are limited and cost £10 each – to book tickets for family yoga, pilates, Osteobreathe, and meditation, visit the I-CANN website.
