Olympic legend Daley Thompson and Gladiators and pole vault champ star Kate Staples have been inspiring schoolchildren through their “Run, Jump, Throw Academy” and now they have received the support of Health Minister Stephen Hammond.

The MP for Wimbledon joined two-time Olympic champion Daley and Kate at Donhead School, Wimbledon where their coaching team put excited and energised pupils through their running, jumping and throwing paces.

Daley Thompson Athletics Academies operate in dozens of schools, combining fun and games with genuine athletic coaching and health and fitness habits that could last a lifetime.

“We’re not trying to unearth the next Olympic champion”, commented Daley. “But we’re trying to reach all kids, get them active, having fun, learning good habits and getting fitter and healthier”.

Stephen Hammond added, Its more important than ever that children are encouraged to be active, fit and healthy. The wonderful initiative that Kate and Daley have developed can help safeguard childrens fitness and participation in sports.
