Without a doubt, Versace is one of the most popular high-fashion couture houses today. Aside from being known for its bold and luxurious designs, from summer collections to winter warmers, the Italian brand has gained international virality thanks to its strategic celebrity partnerships.
For instance, a lot of its recent acclaim has come from red carpet features like Ariana Grande’s stunning pink frock during her Wicked press tour. Despite being nearly 50 years old, the brand has remained very relevant among all ages and demographics thanks to its timely celebrity collaborations. In the last few years alone, several celebrity endorsements have stood out and helped cement Versace’s status as an It brand. Here are some of them:
Dwyane Wade
Widely considered one of the NBA’s best ballers, Dwyane Wade may have retired from professional basketball in 2019, but his popularity has only increased. Recently, he’s been making waves as a fashionista. Often included in Best Dressed lists and elite fashion events, such as the Met Gala, Wade has been a Versace Eyewear endorser since 2023. Versace sunglasses are known for their glamour and unmistakable attitude. Handcrafted in Italy using high-quality materials like cellulose acetate, stainless steel, and titanium, Versace is known for its world-class quality—much like Wade himself. In both of his campaigns, Wade explains that sunglasses represent so much more, including an outfit’s finishing touch, a talking point, and even a new opportunity. According to an interview with Esquire, Wade finds this endorsement empowering and comforting, as they share his passion for acceptance, innovation, and confidence.
Anne Hathaway & Cillian Murphy
Two of the most celebrated actors today, Hathaway and Murphy’s Versace 2024 campaigns were a pleasant surprise for fashion and film fans alike. Artistic director and vice-president Donatella explains that choosing the two Oscar winners felt natural, given that they represent many of the brand’s own traits. This includes being strong, direct, and iconic. While Hathaway has been a staple around fashion circuits, Murphy’s presence in the new campaign is a welcome addition to Versace’s celeb roster. Known for being more introverted, Murphy’s Icons campaign proves that Versace can also cater to the more minimalist fashion consumer.
Hyunjin Hwang
K-pop is one of the most influential industries today, with idol appearances considered a prime commodity. Never one to shy away from adopting the most in-demand trends, Versace joined the K-pop fray by onboarding their own idol ambassadors. Although Aespa’s main vocalist Ningning was named another ambassador in February of this year, it was Stray Kids’ visual and main dancer Hyunjin who opened the door as Versace’s first idol endorser. Just this past holiday season, Hyunjin headlined the luxury house’s seasonal campaign wearing new items from the Versace menswear line. This included their high winter coats and sneakers made with a variety of materials like denim, wool, and jacquard. In this campaign, Hyunjin also became among the first to introduce a new Versace bag featuring the brand’s signature Barocco print.
Dua Lipa
One of the biggest pop stars today, Dua Lipa has come a long way since her first single, “New Love,” was released in 2015. Today, Lipa is a multi-platinum performer with three Grammys under her belt. On top of being a certified chart-topper, Lipa is also a fashion darling, whose looks often trend online. In 2023, Lipa took her fashionista label a step further by co-designing a collection for Versace. Called “La Vacanza,” the collection was shown in Cannes to a star-studded audience, including A-listers like Troye Sivan and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Since then, Lipa has remained a close friend of the House of Versace, having also walked their runway and worn their outfits to exclusive events.
