In search of a new independent hair salon in the area, Darling sent one of our writers, Matilda, to put Rock & Fairy hair salon in St Margarets to the test.
Having your hair done at a new salon is always slightly nerve wracking, especially when it comes to colour, so I was a little bit apprehensive when arriving at Rock & Fairy. After taking a break from colouring my hair over the lockdowns I was keen to go blonder again, in time for summer. The staff at Rock & Fairy were all very friendly. My stylist Becky was really helpful and gave me great advice on what I should opt for in order to achieve my desired look (I had taken a picture with me of what I was hoping my hair would look like after the treatment finished. I find it’s always a good it a show a picture, especially if your as particular about your hair as I am. We decided on specifically placed foils, mostly around the face.
She used L’Oréal oil based products, applying both foils and also a brush to paint extra colour on, using a balayage board as a guide.
After the foils came off it was over to the wash station to have my hair washed and my scalp massaged – so relaxing when done well. This is my favourite part of visiting a salon.
Becky expertly cut and styled my hair, showing me how to use a hairdryer and straighteners to achieve the look she’d created. I am so happy with my hair and have received lots of compliments on it already!
I would definitely recommend Rock & Fairy to a friend, and will myself be back in the future for my next cut and colour! They also offer free fringe trims for their customers, which is essential if you want to avoid any kitchen scissor mishaps.
