WOW – Women of the World 2023 has announced extra guests for the London Festival at the Southbank Centre from 10-12 March to mark International Women’s Day.

Additions to the line up include:

  • Internationally renowned activist, model, writer and broadcaster Munroe Bergdorf  discussing her life-affirming book Transitional. She will be in conversation with Azieb-Hannah Pool, Artistic Director/CEO of Bernie Grant Arts Centre.

  • Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was trapped in Iran for six years before she was finally freed and reunited with her daughter and husband back in the UK. Almost exactly a year after her release, Nazanin joins WOW to be in conversation with Tulip Siddiq MP, her local MP who fought tirelessly for her release, about freedom, family, fighting for change, and her support for women and girls in Iran today.

  • WOW Founder Jude Kelly and special guests broadcaster Sandi Toksvig and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner June Oscar open Saturday at WOW. They reflect on the year in activism with optimism and hope. Amidst the rolling back of rights for women, they celebrate those who have made change and continue to strive for a gender-equal world.

  • Author Liv Little talks about her new book Rosewater, queer love and creativity with her longtime friend and actress Lucy Boynton.

  • Actor and musician Jordan Stephens and social changemaker Elliott Rae join Beyond Equality to explore how we get more men to support women and girls. They look at how men can battle everything from the rise of misogyny influencers to the pervasiveness of “benevolent sexism”. Led by Dr Dan Guinness, Founder of Beyond Equality.

  • The line up has been confirmed for The Case for Free Childcare. From the march of the mummies to the corridors of Westminster, calls for reform are more urgent than ever, but the sector remains underfunded and in need of radical change. The UK’s childcare costs are some of the most expensive in the world, and yet the figures keep rising, speakers on the topic include Stella Creasy MP; WOW Programmer Sabeena AkhtarCatherine Mayer, Co-Founder of the Women’s Equality Party and author; Publisher Sharmaine Lovegrove; Chief of Staff of the Women’s Equality Party Hannah Peaker; and Founder of Pregnant Then Screwed Joeli Brearley.

The world’s biggest and most comprehensive festival celebrating women, girls and non-binary people

Make the most of the amazing WOW London 2023 line up with WOW Day Pass events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There will also be three headline evening events across the festival. On Friday evening, Legendary broadcasters Jane Garvey and Fi Glover unpack some of the news of the day in an extended live edition of their podcast Off Air… with Jane and Fi, alongside special guests.

On Saturday evening, WOW will reclaim sex and go big on orgasms with sexpert, relationship advisor and author of The Big O, Oloni. In conversation with Tolani Shoneye, co-host of the award-winning The Receipts Podcast, Oloni will debunk taboos around pleasure for women and take a deep dive into sex positivity, kinks, pleasure and her mission to reclaim sex – with plenty of time for audience questions. They’ll be joined by special guest, actor and musician Jordan Stephens (Rizzle Kicks) in this fun and freeing, no holds barred conversation.

On Sunday night, Roxane Gay, one of the leading feminist voices of our time, comes to London for one-night-only. From politics and patriarchy to Beyoncé and reality television, the author of Bad Feminist – universally considered the quintessential exploration of modern feminism – will join WOW for an unforgettable evening of conversation and celebration of her work that has garnered acclaim across the world for its honesty and ferocity. Roxane will be in conversation with writer and broadcaster Afua Hirsch. Tickets for this event will go on sale on 1 February
