Introducing Mrs. OT – the mama who is striving to reinvent ‘mum events’ to have a core focus on maternal mental health & well-being, whilst being accessible and appealing to all ages and stages of motherhood.

Enter ‘The Retreat’ which has just launched it’s first wave of events across London.

Firstly, in a bid to challenge and address society’s definition of mothers, she launched the I AM MAMA Campaign, giving voice to those who associate with the title ‘Mama’ – yet are often overlooked or misrepresented. Each woman’s story – (incl. solo mums, bereaved mums, older mums, step mums, donor mums, disabled mums, sen mums….) is due to be released periodically over the coming month(s) across her website and social platforms.

Following the success of ‘Mrs. OT | The Urban Retreat‘ (a candlelit evening session for mums; including elements of conversation, relaxation and emotional release) it has been contracted for a long term residency at a flagship David Lloyd members club.

The first season of public events has now been launched and hosted in luxe venues, with aligned values / ethos, across the capital.

Some of the events

A Private Audience w/ Anna Mathur (Psychotherapist, Sunday Times Bestseller, ‘The Ribbon Movement’) – Wed 13. Sept, 7pm

‘Journalling Motherhood’ Workshop w/ Author Abigail Mann (Lonely Fajita, Wedding Crasher, Sister Surprise) – October 2023

Pen Portrait’ Masterclass, w/ Calligraphy & Lettering Expert Emma Pickford (from ‘_ish’)- November 2023

Each ‘Mum Only’ event has a key theme or topic surrounding nurturing mothers mental wellbeing. Whether that involves listening to expert discussions with ‘takeaway tools’ that can be implemented in real life, or whether guests take part in more practical ‘workshop/ masterclass’ style exercises.

Every occasion has an integrated social element to bring likeminded women together and form connections, with some events catering for particular subcategories of motherhood – i.e SEN or Solo mums – to create support networks within communities.

Mrs OT loves the idea, too of multiple generations of mums attending together and hopes her own mum and grandma will be on the guest list!

About the founder

Kate Okello Tarrant, aka Mrs. OT is a qualified antenatal, postnatal and birth advocate; breastfeeding specialist; and maternal wellbeing facilitator. She holds space, too, for guided birth debriefs as well as reflections following miscarriage and loss, amongst other bespoke services.

Kate 2 - Founder - MRS-OT

After the best part of a decade as an established Voice Artist and Actor, a career that still runs in tandem with this venture, a simple blog to connect with other women snowballed into years of training to advocate for and support women during their pregnancy, birth and subsequent stages of motherhood.

Kate’s training with Developing Doulas saw the her receive the Pam Lacey Award, acknowledging prior breastfeeding and antenatal support to a vast array of women during lockdown and beyond. Her services have morphed over the years paralleled with her own motherhood journey and life experiences.

Based in Wimbledon and a mum of two boys, she has curated and facilitated from scratch every element of the business from conception, alongside raising her sons.

She is able to offer in person appointments for those within her local catchment area, and can offer a range of sessions remotely.

“Whilst fully recognising the need for maternity leave specific, pre/postnatal fitness, or mum + baby events, I’m here to complement the market, not trample it. The missing piece of the puzzle to complete the full spectrum of support mums need…and deserve” says founder, Kate – ‘Mrs. OT’.
