Silver Planet suggests a few answers to the unfathomable question: is there life after death?

What if the world of the dead wasn’t the biggest mystery there is? What if you had to try and find your way back…alive?

In this thrilling sci-fi fantasy by Wimbledon author Tom Johnson, 16-year-old Jonathan has found the magic of the afterlife…the only problem is that he’s not dead.

Worlds collide in Tom’s thought-provoking novel, Silver Planet, when the tragic death of a teenage boy from London sends his soul on a journey through the afterworld to a distant planet where he joins the consciousness of a 16-year-old boy, Jonathan Powers.

“When humans die, their conscious souls travel across an invisible corridor to a second human planet where they join the mind of another person, losing all memory of their past life the moment their new life begins. The whole process happens very quickly. It’s like waking up as someone else.”

Tom’s story is a heart-stopping journey across worlds, a journey of hope, survival and longing for loved ones left behind. Filled with anecdotes of magic and a sapient bird protagonist who protects the two worlds and the souls that pass between them, this incredible story is an emotional rollercoaster full of moments of unimaginable sacrifice, terrible tragedy and unexpected happiness.

“‘It is us, the birds, who brought eternal consciousness to humankind,’ Rose declared. ‘It is our greatest labour, our most precious magic. Long ago, powerful birds saw the souls of the dead being tortured and destroyed by an ancient evil that we call the Arc of Darkness, a force which has not shown itself for many an age.

‘Sickened by the injustice of what they witnessed these birds created a cycle of eternal consciousness to keep human souls away from Arcan punishment. Spheres of woven magic called lumenests were placed at the heart of our planet, Earth, and at the heart of a planet many light years from here, Centurian. These eternal cores are the beginning and end points of a soul’s journey between the two worlds. Our purpose is to protect the workings of eternal consciousness so that humanity never again experiences such suffering after death.’

In Silver Planet, readers will come face to face with the question of the ages: Is there life after death? Sci-fi and fantasy fans aged 10 to 11 and upwards as well as adults will revel in the vision of Tom’s answer – a world in which life continues on, and where the souls of the dead embark on a journey of their own and pass into the minds of other humans in a never-ending cycle of transcendence.

This is Tom’s debut novel and it is inspired by the loss of one of his own boys at birth, the inexplicable sorrow which resulted and the constant wondering of whether he might be alive, somewhere, in a hopeful world of life after death. He dedicates the book to those who have experienced the same terrible grief and who also hope and wonder.

Silver Planet was published on 30th September 2020 and is available in ebook, hardback and paperback formats on Amazon. An Audiobook will be released soon.
