Maximus Foundation UK, the not-for-profit arm of Maximus, has awarded a grant of £2,500 to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust to help run their national helpline, which provides free practical and emotional support to those impacted by cervical cancer.

The charity, headquartered in London, has been working tirelessly to raise awareness of cervical cancer, dispel myths, and advocate for improved screening programmes and treatments since 1999. They also offer invaluable information and resources, including emotional support and practical guidance, to empower those affected by cervical cancer and their families.

The grant will contribute to running their support network to ensure that everyone impacted by cervical cancer receives the help they need, whilst also continuing to further their campaign to raise awareness of cervical cancer and the importance of attending screenings.

This has become particularly important in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, where cervical screening attendance has declined to 66.4% in England, well below the 80% national target.

The donation forms part of Maximus Foundation’s latest round of dedicated fundraising to help local charities nationwide. The grant was awarded via a cheque presentation by a Maximus Foundation trustee. Maximus Foundation UK has awarded grant beneficiaries totalling £585,000 since 2015.

Charis Green, Chair of Maximus Foundation UK, said: “We look to support UK charities whose work changes lives through campaigning, fundraising and support. Research shows that nine women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every day in the UK so helping charities like Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust to provide free emotional support and practical advice to people whose lives have been impacted by cervical cancer is very rewarding.”

Bridget Little, Head of Support Services at Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, said: “We are very grateful to receive funding from Maximus Foundation UK, which will enable us to reach more people affected by cervical cell changes or cervical cancer. The grant will contribute to the running of our national helpline, which is there for anyone in the UK who is looking for information and support for themselves or someone close to them.”
