The WWT Wetland Centre in Barnes is hosting the new ‘Illuminature’ exhibition as well as many other activities this autumn. Experience the very best this beautiful nature reserve has to offer. There is so much to see, learn and join in for the whole family.

New light trail at WWT (Wildfowl and Westlands Trust) London this autumn!

Experience a unique, illuminated trail like no other and explore nature after dark.

Join friends and family as you explore the after-dark trail through habitats of owls, geese and otters. Walk past reed beds, lagoons and the grazing marsh and see larger-than-life illuminations of iconic wetland wildlife.

WWT and lighting trail experts Lumagica in association with MK Experience are proud to present ‘ILLUMINATURE’ – a unique opportunity to see a different side of the wetlands while enjoying an immersive art experience after-dark.

Along the route, play in the immersive tunnels, hop along the responsive lily-pads, create colourful shadow animals and enjoy a multitude of other opportunities to interact with nature and light.

ILLUMINATURE, running 4.00 – 9.00pm from 22 October 2021 to 9 January 2022, offers you something a bit different – an interactive ‘wild’ experience of London under the stars.

Tickets are £17.50 for adults and £12.50 per child, under 4’s visit free.

Catering and gifts are also available at the event. So, bring your friends, family and colleagues along for the adventure, as you walk under the stars and experience the London Wetland Centre like never before.

Field-craft and bird ID

The centre warden will guide you around the wildlife reserve to see what’s it about and give you tips on field-craft and bird ID. There are likely to be numerous migrant wading birds, including Black-Tailed Godwits, Green Sandpipers and Greenshanks.

Wildlife surprises can include bearded tits and migrating merlins. As foliage disappears from the trees you can often get a better view of the reserve’s smaller birds too, such as Cetti’s warblers and long-tailed tits. We record over 180 species of bird each year, so you’re almost bound to see something exciting. Please bring your own binoculars/telescope to get the most out of the walk.
