Enjoying a soufflé and a glass of champagne at the The King’s Head in Teddington was the perfect way to spend a hot summer’s afternoon. My sister and I were warmly welcomed by the manager when we arrived. As it was rainy but humid outside (typical British weather!) we decided to sit inside in the cosy restaurant area. Despite being very tempted by everything on the lunch menu had to offer, we were there for reason only – to taste the new soufflés and champagne the from the summer menu.

Our drinks arrived within seconds of ordering: the Lanson champagne was bubbling with sharpness whereas the summer fruits mocktail my sister had was brimming was sweetness. After a few sips of our drinks, the main event arrived. I ordered the Apricot, Almond and Amaretto Soufflé and my sister ordered the Strawberry and Cream Soufflé.

The Apricot Soufflé was simply delicious. The mixture of juicy apricot, syrupy amaretto and nutty marzipan inside light-as-a-feather soufflé was a joy to devour. The honey-like apricot coulis, perfectly poached apricot and floral vanilla ice-cream helped bring the overall experience alive.

I also tried some of the Strawberry and Cream soufflé which was just as tasty. As a nod to Wimbledon that only finished last Sunday, the soufflé is a brilliant celebration of the iconic Wimbledon treat. It’s a strawberry bonanza: the macerated strawberries and strawberry coulis complemented the fluffy strawberry soufflé.

The tastiest soufflés

It’s unsurprising that the soufflés at The King’s Head are so tasty because Brasserie Blancs are famous for them. The Executive Chef has even been featured making them on the ITV series ‘Simply Raymond Blanc’. An impressive 125,000 soufflés are sold by the chain each year which just shows how loved they are.

And at £15 a head, I don’t know what else would convince you to try a soufflé and glass of champagne this summer from The King’s Head!
