The fashion festival is supporting three wonderful SW London charities this year.
1. Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow
Home-Start Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow has been supporting families during those critical early years for over 25 years. In a year like no other we have consistently delivered crucial support to over 240 families with children under the age of five; often feeling lonely, isolated and overwhelmed, living in poor housing, or facing post-natal depression, disability or mental health challenges. We responded quickly and adapted our services to help guide and support vulnerable families through this unprecedented and challenging time. Most of our volunteers are amazing parents, like many of you, who use their own experience of parenting to help guide and support other parents who are struggling. As the long-term impact of the pandemic unfolds, it is vital that we continue to be there when families need us most, providing emotional and practical support; because childhood can’t wait. Please consider donating or volunteering with us to help local families in need of our support.
2. St Mary’s Church
St Mary’s is at the heart of the community providing support, solace and spiritual nurture to people of all ages in good times and bad as well as providing an inspiring and welcoming location for community events such as the Barnes Charity Fashion Show.
3. FiSH Neighbourhood Care
FiSH stands for Friendship, Independence, Support and Help. FiSH Neighbourhood Care provides practical help and emotional support for older, frail and vulnerable people living in Barnes, Mortlake & East Sheen. Through a small staff team and some 300 volunteers we deliver a range of services through our Helpline and a programme of regular activities and events for around 600 service users. We strive to combat loneliness and help people maintain their independence. With our 2 accessible minibuses we provide door to door transport so people can get out and about and be part of the local community.
All the Social Media is (voluntarily!) handled by Abby Wood, local stylist based in Barnes. Insta: @styleupwithabby (www.abbywoodstylist.com)
