Introducing the mother-daughter dream team who seized the opportunity of Covid-19 by joining forces and transforming Lulu B Jewellery from a pop-up on the fair circuit to lulub.co.uk; a one-stop-jewellery-shop catering for all women of all ages!
Lulu launched Lulu B in 2002 with the vision of curating an affordable collection of timeless jewellery. Lulu has a passionate belief that a gorgeous piece of jewellery can transform or update an outfit for any occasion, whether it is jeans or heels! Having spent her entire career in the retail industry, predominantly for Marks And Spencer, Lulu harnessed on her experience in fashion and broke away from the corporate environment to set-up shop on the pop-up and fair circuit. Lulu sources high quality jewels, from around the world, and carefully collates the Lulu B Collection; assessing what’s new and on trend in the marketplace whilst ensuring the pieces she chooses are timeless and transcend fashion.
In 2020, Covid-19 initially forced Lulu B into a very difficult position. With the national lockdown, Lulu B, like lots of small businesses, was unable to operate ‘business as usual’. All pop-up fairs were cancelled, which meant Lulu B lost the infrastructure which facilitated the businesses customer interaction and sales. So Lulu had to adapt and change how she ran her business.
Help was at hand with her talented daughter, Emily. As luck would have it, Emily was at the launch of her working career as lockdown started. She put her Business Degree and expert e-commerce knowledge to good use, and built a new website, which was the essential starting point to expand the business and start selling online.
With the unexpected boom of online sales, this move has proved hugely successful. 20 years on the business is growing from strength to strength with Lulu and Emily harnessing their complementary skill sets. Lulu, predominantly deals with suppliers, fair organisers, and product development, and Emily deals with e-commerce, marketing, and PR opportunities. The Dream Team!
They are very proud of the platform they have built. The website is very accessible, with new products, lots of more imagery with models wearing all styles, to give better idea of sizing, boxed gift cards and e-gift cards and lots more. They have worked hard to collate a range that is well priced, fashionable, yet classic enough to be worn for years.
Being a family business, they have a shared vested interest in growing the business.
18 months on, the pair are loving working together, and have many new plans, including launching their own Lulu B label, which is an exciting and big step.The biggest challenge this team seem to have, is to know when to stop talking shop!
They are very proud of their jewellery offer, and really feel they have achieved their goal as a one-stop-jewellery-shop catering for all women of all ages!
