Being a remote worker can sound like a dream, but it’s not always a stroll in the park. While it’s easy to imagine the joys of taking breaks in the garden during the spring and summer months, winter can be a little bit challenging.
With cold weather and dark nights, cold-and-flu season takes a toll on the physical and mental well-being of remote workers, especially those who live in more suburban/rural environments and don’t have immediate access to friends/gyms/healthcare facilities.
With the winter season ramping up, we thought it’d be a good idea to run through some handy tips that should ensure you stay mentally and physically healthy for the next few months.

Get Outside
Feel more miserable during the winter months? You’re not alone — and you’re not strange for feeling that way, either. It’s a human condition. We need light to feel at our best.
The problem is that the cold temperatures often encourage us to stay inside all day. However, that’s not really what we need. You’ll be doing right by your mental well-being if you make an effort to get outside during the day, even if it’s only for thirty minutes or so.
Stock Up On Healthcare Products
Immune function is less robust during the winter months, when chillier temperatures make us more susceptible to picking up viruses and having the sniffles. It’s bad enough coping with being under the weather at the best of times, but it’s extra challenging when you’re trying to both work and rest in the same space.
Making sure that you’re fully stocked on healthcare products from an online pharmacy will allow you to combat any illnesses at the very first sign of trouble. In many cases, something as simple as having Lemsip in your cupboard can be the difference between struggling through the day and working well.
Manage Your Workload When You’re Ill
With that said, while medication can go a long way towards helping you get better, it’s also important to remember that medication isn’t perfect. At some point, you might just need to accept that you’re ill and invest in rest.
Many remote workers try to power through with work, since they’re able to work in their pajamas from their couch, but that’s not what your body needs. Call your boss, tell them you’re ill, and give your body the support it needs to get better.
Connect With Others
Finally, be sure to make an extra effort to connect with others. We’re all keen to see each other during the spring and summer months, but less excited when the weather is chilly. However, it’s important that you do so. Humans are social creatures, so we need to spend time with one another, even if the weather isn’t at its best!
While it can be tempting to watch Netflix all winter long, we’d say that it’s worth making an effort to get together in person with your friends and family. And if the weather is really bad? A video call will do!
