Opened in January, Bel’s Yoga Yard is a beautiful new yoga and therapy studio tucked away in the heart of South West London. The realisation of a long-held dream by yoga visionary Bel Gibbs, this unique space offers a soulful, authentic experience for yoga lovers and wellness seekers alike.
Affectionately known as “the Yard,” the venue has been lovingly transformed from a former children’s nursery into a serene and uplifting sanctuary. The year-long renovation created a bright, spacious studio, a dedicated massage and therapy suite, a “Zen Den” for meditation and post-class relaxation, and even a private hideaway apartment which is Bel’s own home, making her morning commute blissfully short!

Why “Bel’s Yoga Yard”?
“In nature, a yard is a man-made refuge; a space to shelter animals from the elements,” Bel explains. “That concept resonated deeply with me. I wanted to create a haven, a safe and nurturing environment where people could come to weather their own personal storms.”
A Heartfelt Mission
The ethos at Bel’s Yoga Yard is simple yet powerful: to help students, clients, and guests restore balance, cultivate inner strength, and discover vibrant health and happiness. “I’m passionate about what I do,” says Bel. “It’s really a collaboration of joy between me and my students.”
Since opening, the studio has welcomed a steady stream of supportive students, many of whom return weekly, often bringing friends or family. “Earning their trust from the beginning has been the greatest compliment,” she adds.

Classes for Every Body
The studio offers around three classes daily, tailored to a wide range of needs and experience levels. Class names reflect the studio’s signature warmth and personality, with offerings like Rise & Shine, Flow & Glow, Yoga for Him, Restore & Revive, Yoga for Beginners & Improvers, and Curious Cats – a special class for children inspired by Bel’s book Yoga for Children, which she wrote when her now-grown daughters were little.
The Magic of Sound
Among the most beloved offerings are Bel’s twice-weekly Sacred Sound Baths, a sensory experience that has become a local bucket-list event. Students lie cocooned in Tibetan cashmere blankets and Indian bolsters while immersed in the sounds of crystal alchemy bowls, Rav drums, and peace bells—creating what Bel calls “vibrational medicine.” These special frequencies help reset the nervous system, with remarkable effects reported by people experiencing insomnia, stress, ADHD, fatigue, depression, and even post-stroke recovery.
“One of the beautiful things about sound bathing is that it’s for everyone—from children to grandparents,” says Bel.

A Lifelong Journey in Wellness
Bel has taught yoga for nearly 30 years and remains deeply moved by its transformative power, both personally and in the lives of her students. In the past 15 years, she has added Instinctive Meditation to her teaching, a creative and natural approach to meditation she studied in California with friend and mentor Dr Lorin Roche of the Radiance Sutras School of Meditation.
In 2023 and 2024, Bel expanded her practice further, training in Sound Healing Therapy and offering Sacred Sound Baths in local venues and even hospitals. “Everyone should experience a sound bath at least once,” she smiles.
