Local community charity Wimbledon Guild has announced the return of its much-loved Waggy Walk, taking place for the eighth year on Saturday 4 October 2025. The event will run from 10:30am to 2:30pm on Wimbledon Common, starting and finishing at the award-winning Hand in Hand pub, SW19 4RQ.

Wimbledon Guild is a local charity supporting people in Merton so that no one has to face life’s challenges alone. From financial support and counselling to clubs, activities, and befriending, the charity offers practical help and social connection across the borough.
The annual fundraising walk has become a highlight of Merton’s community calendar, welcoming families, friends, and their dogs for a day of fun, connection, and support. Participants can choose from two circular routes, a shorter 4 km walk or a longer 7 km trail.
Wendy Pridmore, Chief Executive of Wimbledon Guild, said:
“Waggy Walk is a real antidote to the loneliness many people in the borough experience. It’s a great opportunity not only to bring people together but to celebrate the diversity of the community. With your support, Wimbledon Guild continues to be a place where people can come for connection, practical help, and emotional support, so that no one in Merton has to face life’s challenges alone.”

Although Waggy Walk is designed with canine companions in mind, the event is open to everyone. Many walkers join without dogs, and this year’s programme includes a special social walk at midday, offering an opportunity to meet new people and connect with others in the local community.
Waggy Walk tickets include a host of treats, dogs attending will receive a luxury goody bag from George’s Dog Boutique in Wimbledon Village. Walkers will be treated to pre-walk drinks and snacks courtesy of the Hand in Hand pub, as well as a freshly baked artisan sausage roll from local bakery Two Teaspoons after the walk (vegetarian options available). Event sponsors John D Wood, Wimbledon Quarter, and Barratt London will also be providing post-walk goodies for furry participants.
Funds raised from the Waggy Walk go directly towards Wimbledon Guild’s work in the community. The charity provides vital services, from mental health and wellbeing support to social clubs, financial advice, and activities for all ages.
Members of Wimbledon Guild’s community have spoken about the impact of its work:

- “My family doesn’t worry about me as I have another family here in this group; I feel very supported. I don’t feel alone anymore,” said a member of the Stroke Social Club.
- “I’ve gone from being in a dark place – inactive physically and overactive mentally – to being able to get moving again. It has literally changed my life,” added a participant in the Merton Moves exercise programme.
- Another member described Wimbledon Guild as their “lifeline,” saying: “It lifts me up and I always have a nice lunch and a good chat.”
