A man accused of killing two women five months apart has appeared before the Old Bailey, where prosecutors said both victims were discovered in notably similar positions.
Simon Levy, 40, from Beaufoy Road in Tottenham, appeared via video link for the preliminary hearing. He is charged with the murders of 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins, who was found unresponsive on Tottenham High Road on 24 August, and 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, whose body was discovered inside a largely empty residential block in Walworth on 17 March.
During the hearing, Levy confirmed only his name and date of birth.
Prosecutor Tom Little KC told the court that Ms Valencia-Trujillo was located in a disused building with few residents and minimal footfall, aside from occasional security patrols. He said the way in which her body had been left bore “clear similarities” to the circumstances surrounding Ms Wilkins’ death.
Levy faces additional charges relating to a separate incident involving another woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, including grievous bodily harm with intent, non-fatal strangulation, and two counts of rape. These alleged offences are said to have taken place on Tottenham High Road on 21 January.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC ordered Levy to remain in custody ahead of his next court appearance on 23 February. A trial is currently scheduled to begin in June.
The Metropolitan Police has renewed appeals for information, urging anyone who may have knowledge relevant to the investigation, or individuals who may have experienced incidents they have not yet reported, to contact officers.
