Spanish singer Rosalía has been challenging boundaries yet again with her fourth studio album, LUX, released on 7 November 2025, a deeply spiritual and orchestral work that highlighted a shift from the reggaeton energy of her last record.
“Berghain”, the lead single released on 27 October, featured collaborations with Icelandic icon Björk and experimental artist Yves Tumor. The song blended orchestral and electronic textures, with Rosalía delivering operatic vocals in German and Spanish.
In conversation with Le Monde, Rosalía reflected on her artistic journey and her spiritual motivations:
“God has given me so much, the least I could do is make an album for Him,” she said.
“La Perla” and “Reliquia” are standout tracks that have already gained notable traction; “La Perla ” has resonated especially strongly in European markets.
Other key compositions included “Porcelana,” “Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti,” “De Madrugá,” and “Dios Es Un Stalker,” all contributing to the album’s larger narrative of spiritual rebirth and inner conflict.
The debut of LUX has been nothing short of historic for Rosalía. Sang in 13 different languages, she broke the record for the most-streamed debut day by a female Spanish-speaking artist, with 42.1 million first-day Spotify streams. The album has dominated Spotify’s charts, with 12 of its 15 digital tracks entering the global Top 50 on the platform.
In the United States, LUX became Rosalía’s first Top 10 album on the Billboard 200, debuting at No. 4 with 46,000 equivalent album units in its first week. Her commercial success showed how her risk-taking vision is paying off.
LUX is a reinvention. By fusing classical instrumentation, choral arrangements, linguistic diversity, and deeply personal reflections, Rosalía showed her talent as an artist unafraid to blend the sacred with the avant-garde. Critics are already hailing the record for its ambition and emotional weight, some calling it her most daring work yet.
Born Rosalía Vila Tobella, the Catalan singer-songwriter has risen to global acclaim over the past decade by blending flamenco, Latin pop, R&B and experimental sounds. Her breakthrough came with El Mal Querer, and she further cemented her place in contemporary music with her Grammy-winning 2022 album Motomami.
