A groundbreaking exhibition brings the red heart of Australia to Wimbledon this December as the vast desert landscapes of Central Australia will find a new canvas in South London.
From 4th December – 18th December 2025, The Gallery, Arty Corner hosts an extraordinary exhibition presented by Tingari Art of Central Australia and Eastern Desert Art.
The exhibition gathers work from some of Australia’s most respected Aboriginal artists, including the legendary Walala Tjapaltjarri and the internationally acclaimed Angelina Pwerle Ngala, whose bold voices continue to shape global understanding of Aboriginal culture and spirituality.

Ancient Traditions, Contemporary Expression
On display are striking canvases of the unique art of the Australian desert showcasing the arts enduring cultural traditions and cultural legacy where Dreamtime stories of ceremonial sites, traditional hunting grounds, survival essentials, etc emerge through vibrant dots, lines, and colours. Each work pulses with ancestral memory while embracing modern materials — a living bridge between heritage and innovation.
Celebrating Artistic Legacy
The inclusion of Tjapaltjarri’s intricately mapped dot paintings of his early life in the Gibson Desert of Western Australia and Angelina’s world around Utopia in the Northern Territory ensures audiences will experience art of the highest calibre. Their pieces embody both continuity and reinvention, revealing that Aboriginal art as one of the world’s most vital and enduring cultural traditions.
A Rare London Encounter
More than an exhibition, Desert Visions is a cultural bridge — a chance for London audiences to engage directly with contemporary Aboriginal art at an independent gallery in an intimate setting, away from the formality of major museums.
For many, it will be a first encounter with the extraordinary depth, sophistication, and immediacy of this tradition.

About Tingari Arts
Tingari Arts was started in 2002 by Linx Macpherson who lived in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, from 2000 until 2018.
Tingari Arts began working with Walala Tjapaltjarri and Pansy Napangati and then through ‘word of mouth’ many other artists joined them. These artists, mainly with family members, would arrive wanting to paint and the day also included breakfast, lunch, shopping, dealing with mechanics etc and, due to minimal English, assistance with government departments and any other concerns they had.
A day in Tingari Arts also involved family members sitting around the artist while they hear the Dreaming story of the painting. It was a privilege for Linx to be included in this and to learn these amazing stories that have passed down from generation to generation about the ‘creation time and the ancestors’. One wonderful artist would sing (in language) to the ancestors the story of his painting. All paintings have a story!
Most paintings are on Belgian linen primed by Linx with two coats of gesso and two of premium grade acrylics prior to the artist starting. The artists choose which size primed linen they want and tell Linx their required paint colours, which are also premium grade acrylics. Desert painters have mostly used acrylic paints since the Western Desert Art Movement began in 1970.
Over the 18 years Linx travelled extensively throughout Central Australia and visited artists in their communities and outstations. Although now living in NSW Linx returns to Central Australia whenever she can to continue her connection with these amazing people. Her initiated name is ‘Nungurrayi’
Tingari Arts has exhibited throughout Australia, Italy, UK and Singapore and is a member of the Aboriginal Art Association of Australia.
