Over 80 artists and makers will be exhibiting and selling their work in 24 locations across Wimbledon for one weekend this September.

Plot your route to visit ‘pop-up galleries’  in homes, gardens and studios from Wimbledon Village to Merton Priory.

Whether it’s a solo show or a group of artists exhibiting together, you’ll find a huge variety of work to suit all tastes and budgets, from ceramics, jewellery and textiles to painting and printmaking, abstracts to landscapes.

This is the perfect opportunity to meet the artists and find out about the inspiration and techniques behind their pieces.

Pick up a map guide at your local library or find one online at www.commonworksgallery.org. Location Number One on the trail is the Acava artists’ studios in Cannizaro Park, where you will also find a Sculpture installation. But you can start the trail at a point that suits you and create your own art trail, perhaps discovering a new corner of Wimbledon on the way! Each venue will be easy to spot with pink balloons and posters.

Don’t forget to stop in at the Wimbledon Museum, Boardroom Climbing in Wimbledon Quarter and Wimbledon Village’s AdLib Gallery – all exciting new venues on this year’s trail.

Mel Barrett, a participating artist says “I really enjoy the sense of community this event engenders. I got to meet some really interesting people from my neighbourhood (some of whom are now clients!) as well as fellow local artists.”

“We’re delighted to be organising our second Arts Trail in Wimbledon. There’s nothing better than seeing an artist’s work in person, chatting to them about their creative process, and having the opportunity to buy direct from them,” says Katie Preston, co-founder of Common Works Gallery CIC, organisers of the Wimbledon Arts Trail 2024.

Create your own local art tour with the Wimbledon Arts Trail this September 14th and 15th!

All venues are open 10.30-5.30pm Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September. No appointments are needed.

Map guides available at Wimbledon and Raynes Park libraries or online at Common Works Gallery.

This biannual event is brought to you by Common Works Gallery CIC, a non-profit community interest company based in Wimbledon that organises community arts events.

Common Works Gallery is a non-profit community interest company based in Wimbledon that organises community arts events.

Katie Preston and Katharine Rowe, with fellow local artist Mel Barrett, came up with the idea during lockdown of bringing together artists to exchange ideas and create opportunities to share and show work. We took inspiration for the Common Works logo, name and philosophy from artist, maker and designer William Morris, whose workshops were based in Merton Abbey Mills, not far from central Wimbledon.

They aim to SHOWCASE artists, provide them with a supportive COMMUNITY as well as opportunities to COLLABORATE in paid workshops and commissions, and finally to INSPIRE everyone to explore their own creativity.
