Pearl Academy, India’s premier creative education institution, presented its SS26 showcase at St. John’s Church, Hyde Park Crescent in London on September 19, marking its third consecutive season at London Fashion Week. The event brought together a curated group of emerging Indian designers, highlighting the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion sensibilities for a global audience.

The showcase featured collections by Mehakk Jain, Vaibhavi G. Prasad, Shivangi Sharma, and the TEESRA collective (Manvi Mittal, Tanya Garg, and Mehak Goel), each offering a distinct interpretation of Indian fashion. Vaibhavi G. Prasad’s Chapters was an autobiographical exploration of emotion and heritage, blending indigo-dyed handloom textiles with repurposed vintage sarees once worn by her mother and grandmothers. The collection celebrated South Indian craftsmanship while addressing universal themes of creativity, resilience, and identity.

Mehakk Jain, founder of her eponymous label, presented Enchantment, a fairy-core inspired collection emphasizing dreamy silhouettes and nature-inspired motifs. Her work prioritises sustainable luxury, collaborating with local artisans and using naturally dyed fabrics. The designs highlighted how eco-conscious practices can coexist with bold creative expression.

Shivangi Sharma, founder of Kunj Gatha, merged traditional Indian artistry with contemporary minimalism. Drawing inspiration from Vrindavan’s rich cultural heritage, her Indo-fusion garments incorporated vibrant storytelling and modern silhouettes. Sharma’s designs highlighted the versatility of Indian fashion in adapting to international tastes while preserving cultural authenticity.
The TEESRA collective approached Indian fashion from a streetwear perspective, blending traditional crafts with experimental forms to create youthful, boundary-pushing garments. Their work emphasized innovation, global awareness, and the willingness to challenge conventional norms, signaling the evolving identity of Indian designers on the international stage.

Adding a professional edge to the lineup, Rimzim Dadu, a celebrated Pearl Academy alumna, presented her experimental couture collection. Known for incorporating unconventional materials such as metal and cords, Dadu’s work transformed textiles into sculptural forms, combining futuristic design with traditional Indian aesthetics. Her presence reinforced the showcase’s commitment to celebrating established and emerging talent alike.
The visual direction for the event embraced a late-1950s femme fatale aesthetic, with bold waves, dramatic eyes, and striking lips. This styling unified the diverse collections, emphasizing a glamorous, confident woman capable of navigating effortlessly between saree, couture, and streetwear. The historic venue of St. John’s Church, with its high ceilings and classic architecture, provided a dramatic backdrop that complemented the narrative of cultural heritage meeting modern innovation.

Aditi Srivastava, President of Pearl Academy, said: “India has long been integral to the global fashion landscape, with its craftsmanship, textiles, and creativity inspiring the world. London Fashion Week offers our talented designers an important international platform to present their creativity and contribute to global fashion dialogues alongside Milan and Paris. At Pearl Academy, our goal is to shape the future of Indian fashion by nurturing confidence, culture, and community that will one day establish India as a fashion capital in its own right.”
The event reinforced Pearl Academy’s mission to position Indian fashion at the forefront of global conversations, showcasing designers who combine technical expertise with cultural awareness and sustainability. The exhibition highlighted the depth and diversity of talent emerging from India, demonstrating how the country’s creative professionals are shaping a modern, globally resonant fashion narrative.

With over 32 years of experience and a robust alumni network exceeding 15,000 graduates, Pearl Academy continues to expand its global exposure, industry integration, and innovative thinking. Its participation in London Fashion Week shows its commitment to connecting Indian design to international platforms, providing designers with opportunities to gain recognition and influence the global fashion dialogue internationally, where design, craft, and culture seamlessly merge on London’s fashion stage.
