Each September, the UK takes a moment to celebrate food that nourishes both people and planet through Organic September — a nationwide campaign shining a light on sustainability, provenance, and mindful eating. It’s a reminder that food can be more than just flavour on a plate; it can tell a story of care, connection, and respect for the earth.
This year, Mercure Barnaby’s Kitchen and Lounge , nestled inside the newly refurbished Mercure & Ibis London Earl’s Court on Lillie Road, is joining the movement with the launch of its brand-new Organic September Menu. A thoughtful tribute to the season and to the value of eating closer to nature.

A Place with a Story
The restaurant itself has been designed in collaboration with Paris Society and is inspired by Barnaby — a fictional globe-trotter who, after years of wandering the world, returns to London to enjoy his 60s at home. His story runs through every corner of the space and onto the menu: a blend of British charm with international flair, where comfort dishes are reimagined with spices and cooking methods discovered on his travels.
The result is a space that feels both stylish and welcoming and the kind of place where you can settle in for a cosy dinner with friends or linger over a relaxed lunch. It’s warm, lived-in sophistication, rooted in London but open to the world.
Described “as a friend and host, who’s travelled the world. After years of discovery, Barnabys comfort foods have twists with spices and oversees cooking methods, found in a past life well lived. Food here is about comfort, warmth and ambience”.

Rooted in the Seasons
Darling had the joy of experiencing the new Organic September Menu first-hand. On arrival, we were greeted with a handcrafted Organic Blackberry Cocktail — a jewel-toned sip that immediately set the tone for the evening (with a non-alcoholic version available, too).
Starters include a delicately presented Beetroot & Berry Carpaccio and a beautiful Stuffed Zucchini Dome, each celebrating the vibrancy of seasonal produce. For mains, dishes such as the Pan-Roasted Lamb Rump or Roasted Cauliflower (which can be made vegan on request) bring depth, comfort, and flavour, perfectly paired with wines from London Cru, the city’s first urban winery. To finish, indulgent yet refined desserts like a Strawberry Vanilla Cheesecake or Homemade Pistachio Ice Cream close the menu on a sweet note.
Every plate feels guided by care with organic ingredients at their seasonal best, sourced from outstanding British farms and local producers whilst supporting local businesses – reflecting Mercure’s philosophy of Discover Local. 🌱

Why It Matters
In embracing Organic September, Barnaby’s isn’t just serving a menu but it’s joining a much bigger conversation about food and sustainability. The ethos is simple yet powerful: food grown with care, prepared with respect, and served with a sense of connection to where it came from. It’s about slowing down, choosing thoughtfully, and savouring the difference that organic produce makes; for flavour, for health, and for the environment. 🌍💚
The Heart of the Experience
A beautiful space and seasonal menu are only part of what makes Barnaby’s special. What truly completes the experience is the warmth of the team. Kasturi, Lucas, Bledar, Noura, and Edwardo looked after us with a friendliness and attentiveness that felt genuine and effortless. Their knowledge of the menu and thoughtful guidance gave the evening a relaxed ease, adding a personal touch that lingers long after the last bite.

The Verdict
The freshly refurbished Barnaby’s Kitchen & Lounge is more than just a stylish addition to Earl’s Court but a place that tells a rich, stylish and sophisticated story. It’s a space where design, dining, and comfort come together; rooted in heritage, refreshed for today’s wanderer.
The Organic Menu is a reflection of that spirit: thoughtful, nourishing, and deeply rooted in the seasons.
In a season often defined by indulgence, Barnaby’s strikes a rare harmony: refined yet heartfelt, elegant yet grounded. Rooted in organic produce, the menu feels honest, thoughtful with food that comforts without overwhelming, delights without excess, and reminds us of the beauty in choosing carefully and living organically.
The Organic Menu runs throughout September and is open to both hotel guests and the public. A perfect way to celebrate the season while supporting sustainable, local, and organic food.☘️

Organic September?
Organic September is an annual campaign that celebrates everything organic. The campaign seeks to educate the public about the environmental and health benefits of organic farming, which avoids the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, and promotes biodiversity. By choosing organic, consumers can support farming practices that are better for the planet, for animals, and for people. Organic September is also about making small changes, whether it’s switching to organic milk, choosing organic vegetables, or trying out organic beauty products.
- Buy Organic Products: Choose organic options when shopping for groceries, clothing, or skincare products. Look for the organic certification label to ensure you’re supporting genuine organic products.
- Support Local Organic Farmers: Visit farmers’ markets or farm shops that sell organic produce. Supporting local farmers helps sustain organic farming practices and reduces food miles.
- Learn About Organic Farming: Educate yourself about the benefits of organic farming and share this knowledge with others. Understanding how organic practices benefit the environment and health can encourage more people to make the switch.
- Participate in Events: Attend workshops, farm tours, or cooking classes that focus on organic living. These events are a great way to connect with the organic community and learn more about sustainable practices.
- Share on Social Media: Use your social media platforms to promote Organic September. Share your organic purchases, recipes, and tips to inspire others to go organic.
✨ Here’s to autumn, organic living, and beautiful meals shared in good company.
