Lumen Studios have announced the forthcoming audiovisual experience, ECLIPSE, by acclaimed creative duo NONOTAK, the artists’ first solo exhibition in London. The 1,000+ square metre exhibition will be on view in London from 30 August through 8 December 2024.
NONOTAK, “HIGHWAY” (2022). Audiovisual light installation at Cineum Cannes as part of NONOTAK solo exhibition HORIZONS.
Opened from 30 August through 8 December 2024, at 47 Tanner Street in London’s vibrant Bermondsey district, the exhibition will offer a transformative, multi-sensory experience, enveloping viewers in a boundary-pushing synthesis of art and technology. The exhibition will also feature a series of special live performances by the artists on 5, 6, and 7 September.
Spanning over 1,000 square meters, ECLIPSE will showcase a curation of three light and sound installations, including two new site-specific works. Entitled “HIGHWAY”, “DUAL”, and “HIDDEN SHADOWS”, these entrancing unique environs emphasize the multiplicity of the artistic duo’s innovative ability to sculpt light and transpose sound into spatial planes creating otherworldly experiences.
Through kinetic visuals, projection mapping, choreographed sound, and more, NONOTAK’s environments bathe the space and engross the viewer in dynamic audiovisual landscapes and experimentations. Presented together for the first time, the duo’s existing and new works demonstrate the artists’ prowess in developing mesmerizing experiential installations.
NONOTAK, comprised of visual artist Noemi Schipfer and light and sound artist Takami Nakamoto, is renowned for creating transcendent immersive environments that challenge and captivate viewers. Inspired by minimalist architecture and optical art, their installations invite an exploration of the interplay between light and darkness; sound and silence; and the physical and the intangible. The duo has exhibited at Day for Night, MUTEK International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music, Tate Britain, Art Basel Miami, Artechouse, and Wonderspaces. They have collaborated with Hermès, ADIDAS, CRACK Magazine, and Roppongi Art Night. Their work has also been featured in John Wick 4, and Forbes 30 under 30. The duo also won the 2016 Art Directors Club Young Guns Awards. ECLIPSE will be their first solo exhibition in London. Visitors will discover a space where the boundaries between art, technology, and human perception dissolve to create a singular experience.
“Through the experience of ECLIPSE, we would like visitors to realize the power and impact of light on visual perception when combined with space and sound,” said NONOTAK. “Light, considered by us as a matter we sculpt, will express itself in its different forms throughout 3 installations curated for this experience.”
To celebrate the exhibition opening, NONOTAK will stage a series of special live performances on 5, 6, and 7 September, offering attendees an intimate experience that expands the duo’s mastery of light, sound, and space.
“At Lumen Studios, we are committed to championing artists who are pioneering new visual languages at the intersection of art and technology,” said Jen Roebuck, CEO of Lumen Studios. “NONOTAK’s innovative approach to creating audiovisual experiences aligns perfectly with our mission, and we are thrilled to bring their groundbreaking work to London.”
